General Plumbing York: Local, Not a Call Centre
DM Plumbing Services, a family run York plumbing and property maintenance business, covers general plumbing in York and the surrounding areas. DM Plumbing Services is a family run business based in and around York and the surrounding areas, which means the firm you ring is the firm that turns up.
What difference does a family run firm make?
This is a family run business, working in and around York and the areas surrounding it. It means the phone and the van belong to the same business.
A national booking service sells the job on and keeps a cut. That search costs minutes, and minutes are what you are short of. Ringing a local firm directly removes the middle of that.
How do I find a good plumber?
Ask locally, then check three things: the qualifications, the insurance, and whether the workmanship is guaranteed. All three are easy to answer honestly. DM Plumbing Services works with City and Guilds qualified plumbers, holds 2 million emergency plumbing in Fulford pounds of public liability cover and guarantees workmanship for 12 months.
Is it worth having one firm for the small jobs?
It is the run of small jobs that do not belong to any one trade. Light bulbs, fence repairs, broken tiles, new locks, blocked gutters, painting and decorating. Size is not the deciding factor.
The saving is in not chasing six trades for six small jobs. DM Plumbing Services covers property maintenance in and around the York area, charging no call out fee, at a competitive hourly rate.
What is the average lifespan of a macerating toilet?
It depends far more on what has been put through it than on the years, which is why two identical units can differ enormously. Used correctly they last well; fed with wipes they fail quickly regardless of make.
What should an outside tap installation include?
It is a branch taken off the cold supply inside, run through the wall to an external tap. The part that matters is what goes in between: an isolating valve indoors and protection against backflow.
The indoor valve is what lets you drain the tap before a frost. Left full through a hard frost it bursts, and usually inside the wall. Outside taps are on the DM Plumbing Services service list.
